Inez Groden, as she was known after her marriage to Mr. Toben Groden, the hardest of the hardest. Origanilly, Mama was born Henrietta Roberts, (mother also named same) and was registered at birth by an Elmo Phillip. Her address of birth was 48 Argyle Street in Trinidad.
This woman was the epitome (highest) of women that personally I have known to walk to her own beat. Why is she the hardest? Well, at dinner time, there wasn't such a thing as ordering out at KFC, but going in the back yard, grabs a chicken, a cutlass, then "WHAM", a chicken running around with a head. I learned that phrase, "running around like a chicken without a head" long before it was became fashion in the US. Inez, (pronounced "I knee Zzzzz") was the woman who held it down for us when we were younger in Tobago. In her last year, I visited this woman and we had the greatest conversation about everything. Everyone said she had Alzheimer, but we talked about AIDS, politics, family, etc... She will be missed by the family who knew her. Inez was deceased in 2004.
