large product photo   Historical Biography

Irene C. was a woman of qualities only the family could love. She was a private woman who took great pride in her appearance. We did not get to know her very well as we would have liked, but she lived with grace and poise. Irene was just like her brother, Hugo C. and she could be a tiger when she needed to be. Irene was born February 26, 1916 and died, June 4, 1999 at the Brooklyn Hospital and Medical Center.
Obituary: Rhonda Irene Clarke was born to Albertha Clarke and Edmund Hayes on February 26th in St. Michaels, Barbados, West Indies and departed this life on June, 1999. She was educated in Barbados and migrated to the United States in 1953 and made Brooklyn, New york her home until her passing, Irene, as she was fondly called, worked for twenty years for the Building Service Union and retried in December, 1989.
Irene was a person who liked to wear pretty clothes, have fun and liked to "fuss" about any and everything. Controversy was her name and caring was her game. For the last two years of her life, Irene's home was the Marcus Garvey Nursing Home where she fought a lon0g time battling her illnesses and their many complications.
